The Mason Foundation is a dynamic charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities and individuals to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilled lives. We work across the UK to reduce inequalities through our innovative programs:
- Propel – Supporting neurodivergent individuals into meaningful employment
- The Community Mile – Bringing communities together through accessible physical activity
- Bespoke Community Impact Projects – Co-creating solutions for local community challenges
In 2024 alone, we supported over 7,500 beneficiaries through our network of 300+ trained Community Champions and Mentors. Our ambitious strategy aims to reach 15,000 people annually by 2026.
Trustee

Job Type: This is a voluntary, unpaid role with a 3-year initial term. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and committed Trustee to join our Board and help guide our strategic growth. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an organisation that places local people at the heart of creating positive change.
We are particularly interested in recruiting candidates that have skills in finance and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
As a Trustee, you will:
- Strategic Leadership
- Help shape our strategic direction and ensure we fulfil our charitable objectives
- Monitor progress against our “Empowering Futures” 2024-2026 strategy
- Contribute to developing future strategic plans
- Governance
- Ensure the charity operates within its governing document and legal framework
- Safeguard the charity’s reputation, values, and integrity
- Approve policies, annual budgets, and financial statements
- Ensure proper financial controls and risk management systems are in place
- Financial Oversight
- Review financial performance and ensure financial stability
- Ensure charitable funds and assets are used appropriately
- Support the development of diversified income streams
- Advocacy
- Act as an ambassador for The Mason Foundation
- Use your networks to support our mission and expand our reach
- Promote our work and impact to potential partners and supporters
- Safeguarding
- Ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are in place to protect vulnerable individuals
- Foster a culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility

Terms of Appointment
- In accordance with our Trust Deed dated 16 November 2012, trustees are appointed by resolution of the existing trustees
- Trustees are appointed for a 3-year term of office, renewable for 1 further term to a maximum of 6 years
- Board meetings are held quarterly (approximately 1-2 hours)
- Additional time commitment includes preparation for meetings and occasional attendance at Foundation events
- Total estimated time commitment: 8-10 days per year
- This is a voluntary, unpaid role with reasonable expenses reimbursed
- All trustees undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as per our safeguarding policies
- A 6-month probationary period applies to all new trustees
